Mixed Media + Installation

A collection of mixed-media works exploring sculpture, projection, light, and unconventional materials through a series of independent studio projects.

Created as part of my high school portfolio and independent studio practice, these works became an early space for experimenting with physical materials, moving image, light, and installation. I used objects ranging from etched glass and wire mesh to prescription bottles, projection, cardboard, and found technology.

Three photographs of clear glass light bulbs etched with a fingerprint pattern: two lit against a black background on the left, and one on a white surface casting a fingerprint-patterned shadow on the right.

Self Portrait - Uniquely Me · 2022

I etched my fingerprint into a lightbulb as a self-portrait about individuality and the importance of maintaining a sense of identity.

Awarded Works

Assault on Science · 2021

Growing up with Christian teachings while learning scientific theories at school, I used a microscope, Bible, and laptop to visualize the tension I felt between creationism and evolution.

2022 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards · Gold Key · Expanded Projects

A USB microscope aimed at an open bible on a black background, with its magnified view of the page, a passage from Genesis, shown on a laptop beside it.

Critical Mass · 2020

Inspired by dystopian fiction, I built nested structures around words like information, surveillance, control, and power to explore how access to information can shape society.

2022 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards · Honorable Mention · Sculpture

Projection + Moving Image

Continental Drift · 2022

Built from the only photograph I had of my father growing up, I edited the figure into a moving image and projected it across a parking lot, turning an inaccessible memory into something temporary and physically fragmented.

Fool's Gold · 2022

Using the butterfly effect as a metaphor, I explored how my father's absence shaped my childhood and how my idea of what made a family complete changed as I grew older.

Material Experiments

Building the Golden Child - Baby Fusion · 2022

Inspired by Klara and the Sun, I imagined genetic modification pushed toward an artificial idea of the "perfect" child, questioning what is lost when optimization replaces individuality.

Two views of an open laptop whose screen shows green cascading code, with gold-painted plastic babies climbing over the keyboard and screen inside a hexagonal fencing-wire mesh.
A sculpture of stacked amber prescription bottles lit from inside by LEDs, shown beside a photograph of a person at a bathroom mirror holding a pill bottle.

Watching Friends Consumed by Medicinal Magic · 2021

I used illuminated prescription bottles and a reflected self-image to explore the tension between medication as care and the ways it can become associated with control or misuse.

Personal Studies

Clarity Loss · 2022

Created in response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, this piece reflects the confusion and fear I felt about what the decision meant for the future.

Two views of a faceted human face mask cut from corrugated cardboard, one topped with a striped fabric cap, lit dramatically against a grey wall.

Whispers · 2021

Created as my final project for the RISD Summer Program, this mask contrasts the structured, "perfect" version others may perceive with a more organic reality underneath, reflecting pressure, exhaustion, and perfectionism.
